大城市不利于健康
s purposes, but some others who are opposed to this migration concern that living there ma
y pose a threat to health. Personally, I agree with their viewpoint. Undeniably, citizens
living in large cities are generally afflicted with mounting working pressure. It is an in
disputable fact that mega cities, as the economic centers of a nation, are appealing to mi
llions of skilled and well-educated elites, making the working environment extremely compe
titive and stressful. The employees who have to work long hours so as to climb the career
ladder or purchase property can hardly get enough relaxation and regular exercise, which a
lso makes fast food that is high in calories but low in protein a regular part of their di
ets. As a result, the proportion of people suffering stress-induced diseases such as obesi
ty, insomnia and anxiety in major cities is much higher than that in small towns. In additi
on, the degraded environmental issues in large cities also take a toll on the residents'we
ll-being. Although urbanization has prospered economy and brought numerous job opportuniti
es, it has also made the environmental contamination caused by overpopulation, industrial
manufacturing and the excessive use of automobiles in big cities a concerning issue. Not o
nly have the thorny problems deprived dwellers living there of hygienic water, but also ma
de them vulnerable to illness including lung cancer, asthma and other respiratory diseases
.On the other hand, people who are in favor of living in metropolises may claim that there
are advanced medical systems. For example, in China, the top-level medical resources, ran
ging from prominent doctors to cutting-edge facilities, are assigned to first-tier cities
like Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou, which means that the residents can get the best trea
tment. However, the medical care is generally used to treat patients instead of preventing
illness brought by urban pollution. In conclusion, I insist that living in large cities is
disadvantageous to people’s fitness, both physically and mentally. Therefore, peopleare s
upposed to take the health risks into consideration before intending promising careerprosp
ects in booming big cities.
