From my perspective, I firmly insist that Maria is right since
people save time in commuting if the government add public
transportation routes from the suburban areas to the cente
r of the city, and people enjoy cleaner water and are less likely
to get sick by eliminating harmful and hazardous bacterial in
dirty water. However, I stand more on Tom since I agree with
that social programs, especially education, shed lights on
improving residents' quality of life. If the government provides
free education from elementary school to high school, or
establishes policy to enforce the compulsory education, all
children in the school age will be ensured to receive education.
When kids are educated, they not only gain academic knowledge
in different subjects but also have fresh new perspectives in
seeing the community around them and dealing with all kinds
of difficulties in the world. Also, receiving education enables
children to work with their brain instead of spending their
physical power. Thus, it is more likely for children to gain a
better living standard and earn more salaries, which improve
their life qualities.
