"Price rises are slowing, but not enough."
That's the headline of a new report into the cost of living around the world.
The Worldwide Cost of Living report from the Economist Intelligence Unit
has been looking at the way prices have changed in the last year.
The report found that prices have risen by more than 7%
across the world over the last 12 months.
That's not quite as bad as in 2022, but it's higher than the four years before that.
And of course some places are more expensive than others.
The report also released a list of the world's most expensive — and cheapest — cities.
At the top of that list are Singapore and the Swiss city of Zurich.
Singapore, where transport and clothing were found to be quite expensive,
was in first place last year, too, along with New York,
which is now tied for third with Geneva in Switzerland.
Hong Kong, Los Angeles, Paris, Copenhagen,
Tel Aviv and San Francisco are also in the top 10.
But while Singapore is still very expensive, other Asian cities have fallen down the list.
Weakened currencies in China and Japan, as well as a slow recovery from
the coronavirus pandemic, have seen four Chinese cities, and Tokyo and Osaka in Japan,
fall outside the top 50.
The cheapest city to live in is Damascus in Syria,
while Tehran in Iran and Tripoli in Libya are also in the bottom three.
The Argentine capital of Buenos Aires is also among the world's cheapest cities in 2023.
